The Boss's Room

[It turns out Future Layton is really Dimitri Allen, words are said, a puzzle battle happens, and then Dimitri opens up a wall to reveal a tied up, unconscious man inside.]

Clive: Who is that?

[Some sort of mechanism pulls him out into the open and it's...]

Layton: Bill Hawks!

Dimitri: As you can see, my hostage here is something of a big shot. So I wouldn't try anything funny if I were you.

Luke: You're a monster!

[Just as Dimitri traps them all in a cage, a second Layton shows up!]

Layton: I hate to disappoint you, but it seems you've failed to ensnare the genuine article.

Luke: Uh...Professor? How'd you get there?

Dimitri: Just what is going on here? Why are there two of you?

Clive: Which one is the real professor?

[The Layton in the cage takes his hat off and then his "face" to reveal that he's really Don Paolo.]

Luke: D-Don Paolo?

Clive: If he's in here...

Luke: Then where's the real professor?

Clive: This is getting far too complicated.

Luke: Yeah, what's going on?

Layton: Take note, Luke. A true gentleman never plays his ace in the hole until absolutely necessary.

Don Paolo: Hey, Layton, here's an idea for you. Why don't you quit it with the lectures and get me out of here?

Luke: Help us, Professor!

Layton: Be patient, Luke. I just need to find a way past this lock.

[opens it like a boss while Dimitri just stands there like an idiot apparently???? And then afterwards he just makes his escape with Bostro.]

Clive: They're much faster than I imagined. There's no chance of us catching them.

Layton: Oh, no!

Luke: What's wrong?

Layton: Dimitri and his men managed to abscond with the prime minister in the midst of all this commotion.

[And then an alarm sounds.]

Luke: Uh-oh. That doesn't sound good.

Clive: Dimitri's activated an alarm. Family members from the area are going to flood this place before long.

Layton: There's the distinct possibility we may have to fight our way out of the Towering Pagoda.

Luke: But didn't you take care of Dimitri's henchmen on the way in, Professor?

Layton: Not quite, I'm afraid. What few diversions I managed to set up will only buy us a few more minutes. The path we took on the way in is most likely swarming with Family thugs now. Our only hope is to find some sort of an emergency escape route. Dimitri is a prudent man. He may have one hidden in this room somewhere. We must search this place thoroughly.

Luke: Aha! There's a trapdoor here!

Layton: I'm glad my hunch was right. This is our ticket out of here.

Don Paolo: Oof! This stairwell is awfully narrow! And there's more than one path! Which way do we go, Layton?

Clive: Look--there's a map here that charts out the network of channels below us.

Layton: Let me see. My, this is a bit of a tangled mess, isn't it...

[Surprise, surprise, it's time for another puzzle.]

Clive: The passages below are too narrow for all of us to move through at the same time. If we wish to get out of here quickly, we'll need to split into two groups.

Layton: Hmm. I don't like it, but it seems we've no choice. Now, who should I take with me...

Don Paolo: You always get to be the gentleman. This time, let me escort the young lady.

Layton: Sorry, but I'd prefer your coming with me, Don Paolo.

Clive: Very well then. Flora and I will break off. Luke, you go with the professor and help him keep an eye on Don Paolo.

Flora: Little Luke, trade with me. I want to be in the professor's group.

Layton: Flora, we'll see each other soon enough. Go with Big Luke, and we'll meet back at the hotel.

Clive: All right, our groups are set. Let's get moving.
